American rapper Meek Mill has released a new track titled “Am
I Wrong,” a song that draws from Nico & Vinz’s 2014 hit of the
same name.
The track surfaced alongside another Meek Mill record, “Philly
Heathens,” giving fans fresh material from the Philadelphia rapper.
While “Philly Heathens” has attracted positive reactions from listeners, “Am
I Wrong” has generated a more divided response.
The song features an interpolation of Nico & Vinz’s 2014 global
hit “Am I Wrong,” but Meek Mill places the familiar melody over a
drill-inspired production. The approach gives the track a darker and more
aggressive feel compared with the original, although the combination may take
some listeners time to adjust to.
Meek also experiments with melodic vocals on the track, adding another
dimension to his delivery. While the record takes a different direction from
some of his more established material, it demonstrates his willingness to
experiment with familiar sounds and rework them through his own musical lens.
There is also the possibility that “Am I Wrong” is an older
recording that has surfaced more recently, which could explain some of its
production choices and the use of the interpolation.
Whether the song becomes part of Meek Mill’s upcoming musical plans remains
to be seen, but “Am I Wrong” offers fans another glimpse into
the rapper’s recent creative output.
