the colourful music video for Ala Bekee, bringing plenty of humour and
playful rivalry to a story centred on love and marriage.
The song celebrates the joy of finding your person and
choosing them over and over again, while looking forward to the beautiful
moments that come with building a life together. Yemi Alade sings about
enduring love, while Don Jazzy joins the celebration with prayers for a
prosperous life filled with travel, happiness, and countless reasons to
celebrate.
The title Ala Bekee, an Igbo expression
associated with foreign land or life abroad, cleverly ties into the couple’s
honeymoon dreams. The lyrics reference a romantic getaway to the Maldives and
even cheekily hint at the arrival of a baby nine months later. It is romantic,
playful, and deeply connected to the excitement and traditions surrounding
Nigerian weddings.
