“Bando” to life with a vibrant new music video featuring Pharrell Williams and
Quavo, taken from her latest album, HOPE!!.
Five-time Grammy-winning Beninese music icon Angélique
Kidjo is bringing her collaborative single Bando to life with
a colourful new visual featuring global stars Pharrell Williams
and Quavo.
The track, which appears on Kidjo’s latest album
project, HOPE!!, brings three influential voices from different
corners of the global music scene together on one record. Produced alongside
Pharrell Williams, Bando explores themes of cross-cultural connection,
community resilience, unity, and the joy that comes from coming together.
Now, the accompanying video takes those themes from the
studio to the streets, placing everyday community life, youthful energy, and
street style at the centre of the visual.
Young people take centre stage throughout the video,
with children kicking a football around residential neighbourhoods while
dancers take over cobblestone steps and public spaces. The result is a lively
visual filled with movement, spontaneity, and a strong sense of community.
Angélique Kidjo also delivers several standout fashion
moments. In one sequence, the legendary singer appears in custom dark denim
adorned with metallic hardware, safety pins, and floral brooches, complemented
by black sunglasses, layered gold chokers, and a structured headwrap.
She later switches into a striking burgundy leather suit
paired with platform loafers, while Pharrell Williams joins her on screen in
bright yellow sunglasses and a white T-shirt as he delivers his contribution to
the track.
The release arrives during another significant chapter
in Kidjo’s remarkable career. The Beninese music icon recently made history as
the first African musician to receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of
Fame, recognising her decades-long contribution to music and her role
in bringing African culture and sounds to audiences around the world.
From the vibrant streets captured in Bando to
