It’s finally here. The collaboration
fans have been manifesting since Wizkid and Asake first shared a record
together has officially arrived.
The two Nigerian superstars have
released a surprise new single, “Jogodo,” which serves as the lead track
from their first-ever joint EP, Real (Vol. 1). The announcement
instantly sent fans into a frenzy, marking a major moment for Afrobeats in
2026.
Wizkid and Asake first hinted at the
project during an Apple Music Radio takeover in December 2025, where they
described the EP as a body of work rooted in genuine friendship—one that exists
beyond the pressures and politics of the music industry. That sense of ease and
authenticity is felt clearly on “Jogodo.”
The track is built around a
carefree, feel-good mood, with its title playfully referencing the lightheaded,
euphoric feeling that comes with having a good time in Lagos. It’s music made
for late nights, open roads, and moments where nothing else really matters.
Their chemistry isn’t new. It was
already on full display during Asake’s historic Red Bull Symphonic performance
at Brooklyn’s Kings Theatre in November 2025. In one of the night’s standout
moments, Wizkid joined Asake on stage for a live rendition of “MMS,”
backed by a 33-piece orchestra. The performance offered a glimpse of how
seamlessly their distinct styles blend—and now, that promise has materialized
into a full project.
With “Jogodo” now out, anticipation
is building for the complete release of Real (Vol. 1), set to
drop on 23 January 2026.
